ADA SIGN FABRICATOR

If you enjoy working with state-of-the-art machinery in a fast-paced environment, we’re looking for you! Office Sign Company is seeking to hire the newest member of its Engraving Department to fabricate interior office signage (primarily ADA-compliant braille signs), maintain quality and safety standards, and lead the way in researching best practices and implementing new product lines. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate rotary engraving machinery to produce fine quality products per client specifications. Product materials include plastic, metal, wood, and glass.
  • Load and arrange all order artwork in Adobe Illustrator, Vision Pro, and Gravostyle Software.
  • Troubleshoot variances in materials and make machine adjustments accordingly.
  • Perform thorough cleaning and quality checks of all products before passing them on to Assembly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on all equipment.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor and maintain inventory of sign materials and supplies.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Provide backup support to engraving and other production departments.
  • Contribute to high-level discussions about department operations and growth.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • (Preferred) Candidates who have previous experience with operating rotary engravers, CNC routers, and/or lasers.
  • (Preferred) Candidates who have previous experience fabricating signs.
  • Candidates must have experience with maintaining shop equipment, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing machine failure.
  • Previous experience with vector-based software such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw is preferred.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least two years of experience working in the sign industry or in a production/quality control environment is preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate surveys and installation times with our local account management team, customers, and production personnel, to ensure that install projects are being completed both effectively and with great efficiency.
  • Prepare signage products, tools, and materials required for installation; possess a firm understanding of the best methods for installation on a variety of different surface types (including glass, drywall, brick, concrete, and more).
  • Maintain all of the equipment and inventory used for installation such as trucks, tools and any other equipment necessary to get the job completed.
  • Assist with the fabrication of various sign projects.
  • Assist production in meeting its goal of 2-day turnaround on all standard products.
  • Become intimate with Office Sign Company’s products, services, culture, and staff. As a key component in our production department, it’s imperative for an eligible candidate to become immersed in our company’s processes.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of equipment and resources, and by complying with established safety regulations.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices.
  • Oversee and coach employees to increase speed, efficiency, and effectiveness in running installation equipment when there is more than one person on the install.
  • Monitor levels of raw materials (including fabrication materials, fasteners, tools and more), and order new inventory to make sure that we are on schedule to get the job done without waiting on supplies.
  • Other duties, as assigned by Production Manager and Engraving Manager.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Familiarize yourself with other departments to gain knowledge and understanding of all our processes and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of our products, services, machines, and install capabilities.
  • Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements.
  • Train new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures.
  • Set daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicate them to employees and management.
  • Educate yourself on industry trends, and suggest new products to develop using our current machinery.
  • Additional duties to be assigned by management.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • (Preferred) Previous experience installing signage, vinyl lettering, or similar products.
  • (Preferred) Candidates who have previous experience fabricating signs.
  • Candidates must have experience with wide array of hand tools and power tools, including (but not limited to) measuring tapes, levels, cordless drills, screwdrivers, hammers, saws, and more.
  • Previous experience with vector-based software such as Adobe Illustrator,. Photoshop, or Corel Draw is preferred.
